Glenn Chapplefield

Designer Maker.

My love for designing and making grew through my journey in skate shop retail.

For 22 years, I shaped a visually stimulating and carefully considered environment, learning first-hand how thoughtful spaces can affect people in a positive way. The response people had to the spaces, displays and objects I created helped me realise that this side of my work was more than instinct or enjoyment — it was something I had a real feel for.

That connection between space, people, feeling and function shaped my passion for designing and making.

My work is inspired by the beauty of nature and led by materials. I’m drawn to the warmth and character of wood, the structure of plywood, and the layered history found in used skateboard decks. Often, a particular board, grain pattern, colour combination or surface will guide the direction of a piece.

The result is furniture and practical pieces designed with feeling, function and presence.

While Chapplefield marks a new professional direction, the work is rooted in years of hands-on design experience — from shop fits and point-of-sale displays to shop furniture and functional skateboard pieces created for events and competitions.

Chapplefield is my design and maker practice, creating furniture, homeware and custom pieces for homes and businesses, with a focus on material, process and purpose.

Selected furniture drops and homeware are made and sold through Tomorrow Woodwork Studio, while custom Chapplefield projects are created directly for people’s homes, businesses and creative spaces. These may take the form of one-off pieces, small runs, fitted furniture or carefully considered projects developed in collaboration with the client.

Beautiful designs for thoughtful spaces.
