Frequently Asked Questions

Are your products handmade?

Yes. Every piece is made in the Tomorrow Woodwork Studio using a mix of traditional woodworking, careful hand-finishing and considered design.

Some items may share a similar shape or design, but due to the nature of wood and used skateboard decks, every piece will have its own small variations in colour, grain, marks and character.

Are the skateboard decks new or used?

The skateboard decks used in the First Push range are used decks.

They may come from local skaters, the skate community or archived skate materials, and are selected for their colour, history and character. Marks, scuffs and signs of use are part of the story, not flaws.

Will my item look exactly like the photos?

The item shown in the product photos is the one you are buying unless stated otherwise.

For made-to-order or small batch items, the overall design will match the photos, but natural variation in timber grain and skateboard colours means each piece may differ slightly.

That’s part of what makes each piece unique.

What timber do you use?

Timbers may vary depending on the piece, but current work often uses American black walnut, selected hardwoods and reclaimed skateboard deck material.

Materials are listed clearly on each product page.

How should I care for my piece?

Keep your piece indoors, away from direct heat sources, radiators, damp rooms and prolonged direct sunlight.

Wood naturally moves with changes in temperature and humidity, so a stable indoor environment will help keep it looking its best.

Clean with a soft dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaning products, soaking, or abrasive cloths.

Is wood movement covered?

Natural wood movement is part of owning real wood furniture and objects.

Faults caused by poor placement, damp conditions, excessive heat, direct sunlight, lack of care, or unsuitable use are not covered as manufacturing faults.

If something arrives faulty or damaged, that is different — please contact us straight away and we’ll put it right.

Do you make custom pieces?

Yes, depending on the project.

Bespoke and commission work is designed by Chapplefield and made in the Tomorrow Woodwork Studio. For custom furniture, one-off designs or special requests, please get in touch to discuss what you have in mind.

How long does delivery take?

Postable items are usually packed and sent as quickly as possible. Delivery times may vary depending on the item, your location and whether the piece is in stock or made to order.

Larger furniture pieces may require collection, personal delivery or a delivery quote before ordering.

How much is UK shipping?

Postable items include free UK shipping.

For larger furniture and non-postable pieces:

Collection is free and always available.

Personal/local delivery is free within 25 miles of EX32 7NQ.

Delivery over 25 miles and up to 100 miles is £75.

Delivery over 100 miles is by quotation, so please contact us before ordering.

Can I collect my order?

Yes. Collection is free and available by arrangement from the Tomorrow Woodwork Studio.

This is usually the best option for larger furniture pieces.

Can I return an item?

Yes. You can return most items for any reason, provided they are returned in their original condition.

Please contact us before sending anything back.

Items that have been personally delivered can still be returned, but collection/return costs may apply unless the item is faulty or damaged.

Custom, personalised or bespoke items may not be returnable unless faulty.

What happens if my item arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible with photos of the packaging and the item.

If the damage happened in transit or the item is faulty, we’ll work with you to resolve it properly.

Are your pieces suitable for outdoor use?

Unless clearly stated, no.

Most pieces are designed for indoor use only. Outdoor use, damp areas, sheds, bathrooms or unheated spaces may cause movement, damage or finish failure.

Are the colours in skateboard decks consistent?

No, and that’s the good bit.

Skateboard decks are made from coloured veneers, graphics and layers that vary from board to board. The colour combinations are selected carefully, but each piece will have its own pattern and energy.

Who is Chapplefield?

Chapplefield is the designer-maker identity behind the work.

Tomorrow Woodwork Studio is where the pieces are made.

A simple way to put it:
